I borrowed an expression from the 2002 movie Slackers starring Devon Sawa in an email to a coworker. There is this part when Jason Schwartzman says, “She is a lovely girl with a pure heart. Don’t taint her with your octopus ink!”
Basically, a coworker saw an email I’d written in which I was writing transcripts of the loud women (code names: Hamlet and Bangs) talking about yogurt for ten minutes. And the owner of the email expressed an interest in telling this other coworker about our emails. My response? “I’d let him in but I don’t want to taint him with my octopus ink.” And that’s a weird thing to say, especially because I’m confident that no one has seen that movie, and if they have, they certainly don’t remember lines from it.
But in all seriousness, octopus ink is pretty gross. I mean look at this:

Look at that fucking octopus.
But anyway, everyone should watch Slackers because it’s actually pretty funny (for an early 2000s raunchy, R-rated college comedy) and the big brother from Pete and Pete is there, as is Jason Segal, and more importantly cameos by Donna from Parks & Recreation and the Dean from Community. I mean it is a little sad because Devon Sawa was the star of that movie and look how everyone else around him has flourished.

I will remember you…
